Mecca Bingo launch limited-edition range of Festive Scented Bingo Dabbers

25th NOVEMBER 2024: From the sweet smell of cinnamon, to fresh notes of pine, we’re a nation that goes crazy for a Christmassy scent. Perfumes have the ability to spark memories and boost our mood and now Mecca Bingo is foraying into the world of fragrance to enhance the joy of bingo gameplay this season, today launching a range of scented bingo dabbers inspired by Brits’ favourite festive fragrances.

Set to bring extra cheer to bingo players across the country, the exclusive limited edition dabbers are inspired by the scents of some of the nation’s most beloved Christmas traditions and treats: 

• Mulled Wine: a warming blend of aromatic cinnamon, mixed with full bodied red wine and a classic twist of citrusy orange.

The launch comes as new research, commissioned by Mecca Bingo, reveals 1 in 3 (33%) UK adults say that buying festive scents is one of the rituals that gets them in the Christmas spirit, alongside watching yuletide films (64%) and eating mince pies (37%).

The research also revealed the scents that Brits’ associate most with the holiday season, including cinnamon (31%), roast turkey (27%) and pigs in blankets (18%). It's been long known that scents can have a powerful impact on our emotions, in fact of those that Mecca Bingo surveyed, over half (58%) say Christmassy scents make them feel joyful, whilst others said nostalgic (36%) and excited (18%).

Despite 42% of Brits saying that a Christmas tree instantly reminds them of the festive season, when the decorating happens is more divisive. More than 1 in 10 (11%) are so eager to get into the festive spirit that they begin to deck the halls and put up their Christmas tree during November, a whole month before the big day. However, the most popular time for Brits to put up their Christmas tree is the first week of December, with a further 18% starting the festivities on the first of the month.
